Workshop Wrap Up
52 Coach Educators from across 9 different sports descended on the Rugby & Sport Institute in Palmerston North to sharpen their coach educator skills through friendly practice sessions and review process.
Educators from Rugby, Netball, Touch, Cricket, Hockey, Volleyball, Triathlon, Basketball and Bowls came from around the Central Region as far as Gisborne, New Plymouth and Wellington to attend. Regional Sports Trust Coach Development personal also attended as the role of a Coach Educator is gaining momentum within the provinces and was great to connect with Tim Motu (Hawkes Bay) Nicole Dryden (Wanganui) and Kelly Curr (Wellington).
The aim of the workshop was to challenge, grow and stretch educators skills and abilities within a friendly environment, a place where they could practice new skills for the first time and refresh and strengthen some old skills.
The Educators were put through some 'Action Learning' on the following topics:
Capping off the night was some Team Bonding at the local Karaoke Resteraunt as several educators scerinaded us over dinner, the highlight was seeing Rachel Wybourne-Curtin get up on the last song!
NEXT STEPS: The aim is to continue to provide opportunities within the provinces to practice our skills, will be in touch on what will be on offer. In the meantime looking forward to the return workshop in 2017!
