2016 saw the return of the RDO National Conference back to the spiritual home of Palmerston North and the 'Sports and Rugby Institute' . Over 80 RDO's descended on the 3-Day workshop which had a theme of how 'To Create an Effective Learning Environment' in order for our courses to keep coaches engaged, motivated so they would be excited to attend courses/workshops and stay in our game! Rugby Smart was a heavy focus where RDO's worked together to create the new delivery format, Mike Scaddon from Brain Stems NZ touched on how people learn, Coach Educators delivered several sessions on:
Mike Cron - All Blacks Forwards Coach went through some methods of 'How to Coach' which enables the Coach Educators to pass this onto their local coaches and closed the conference with Q & A from Taranaki CEO Mike Collins and Mitre 10 Cup Coach Colin Cooper on how to create a 'Development Programme'. NZ Rugby also recognised the following RDO's who had a length of service for 10 years or more:
